Nick Jr. Interstitials starring Ryan spreading holiday cheer in a sprite-ly manner.
Nick Jr. came to me with the idea of turning Ryan into a video game sprite for 3 interstitials. I had a fun discussion with the art directors and the director who shot the live half about what classic video games that inspired us. The challenge was finding a hook that felt video-gamey and translated to a friendly holiday activity.
These were the designs handed to me by their in-house designers. Their lovely limited palette off the bat meant I could jump straight into the challenge of adapting these safe round shapes to something more traditionally pixel friendly.
